The First Choice Fundraising (FCF) bottled water sales program is designed to provide sums of money from a few thousand to over a hundred thousand dollars per year. It capitalizes on the current popularity of bottled water, particularly spring water, and the novelty of “Private Label” water with the school mascot and colors. Rather than soliciting donations or selling products that are under desired and overpriced, our group is offering a product that many people already consume and everybody can benefit from.
The water is sold in case lots, with 24 – 20 oz. pop-up, sport cap bottles per case. The group pays $10.00 per case in truckload quantities (22 pallets, 56 cases/pallets, 1,232 cases/truckload). In less than truckload quantities the price is $11.00 per case. Suggested retail price to the consumer is $17.99 per case (75¢ per bottle), picked up by the consumer at the distribution point. Delivered to the consumer’s home by the group, suggested retail price is $19.99 (83¢ per bottle).
The success or failure of this project depends totally on how closely the following plan is adhered to. This program must be adult supervised and coordinated. There must be a project chairperson, separate from the ways and means or fundraising chairperson. Adult team captains are appointed to oversee eight to ten workers per team. A prospective customer list is created. Then a letter explaining the reasons for the project, product information and the fact that they will be called by a worker to answer questions and take their order must be sent to the prospective customers. Workers must report to team captains on a regular basis, with team captains reporting, in turn, to the project chairperson - that is the only way to ensure a successful sale, If routine status checking is not performed, the momentum will lag.
